BAND CAMP 2026: JULY 15TH-24TH
ENSEMBLES AT PICKENS HIGH SCHOOL
The Pride of Pickens Band is a volunteer, extra-curricular ensemble. All band students interested in marching are allowed to join, and anyone may audition for Color Guard. The marching band performs at all football games, the Jasper Christmas Parade, the Veteran's Day Parade, and the Marble Festival. The marching band also competes two to three times each year.
Symphonic Band meets during 4th period both semesters with higher calibur musicians being invited to join this ensemble. The Symphonic Band performs at four concerts during the school year, including Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE). Symphonic Band generally plays music from the GMEA 5 and 6 level list.
Concert Band meets during 2nd period throughout the school year and consists of a variety of band students. The Concert Band performs at four concerts during the school year, including Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE). The Concert Band typically plays music from the GMEA 3 and 4 level list.
The Color Guard is an auditioned group that performs with the marching band. Auditions take place in April of every year and the Color Guard is directed by Mrs. Courtney Bailey.
The Winter Guard is an auditioned group that performs from December-March of each year. This group competes several times each year. Auditions are held in late November.
Jazz Band is an extracurricular group that meets from November-May under the direction of Pickens Junior High School band director, Mr. Andrew Smith. Instrumentation is based on traditional jazz parts, but may incorporate other interested players.
The Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Kyle Sullivan, is an extracurricular group that meets from December-May.
The Saxophone Ensemble is a student-led group who meets weekly and performs at one or more concerts per year.
